What was your first computer growing up?
I'm pleased to announce that I have acquired the rights to the Grundy NewBrain after raising the sum of 79p and a pack of funsize Crunchies. I have plans. Please send all of your Grundy NewBrains to me so that I can rebrand them as Grundy OldBrains and send these obsolete machines back to you.

Grundy Newbrain 1982. Z80. For me the big bonus was an 80x30 display. 80!!! You could read code much easier. Or you could dispense with a monitor entirely and use that snazzy 16 character built in display...
And you could use CP/M

On the bench tonight is my grubby Newbrain model A (no VFD!). Suffering from blank screen syndrome. Got a few days off work, so hoping to spend some quality time with this wee beastie. Looks like she has an additional ROM??!

ZX81. Also used a TRS 80, Apple II, Newbrain and Atari 400 at school. Did you know that in the ZX81, the 1K chip had larger pins around it for an internal 16K chip

I saw a few things at the Northwest Computer Museum for the first time - having only seen it in adverts I had no idea the NewBrain was so big.

Day 78 - #retrorandom - It's the transparent Newbrain! I'm sure there's a joke around it being 'not something you see very often' but it's been a long day and I can't think of it :) It belongs to the museum in Cambridge, but I had it for a while, seeing if it could be fixed ... 1/3
