API was sent a free dwarflab dwarf mini to use for our stargazing events in and around Amsterdam! First light: NGC281 and the Sun.

We'll be at the Allard Pierson museum again this Saturday for the Museumnacht. Let's hope the forecast improves!

Het was niet echt helder maar de seeing was heel goed, een mooie rustige atmosfeer afgelopen zaterdagavond.
Dus even NGC281, IC1848 en Messier45.

Combined data from a #Seestar S50 🔭 and a #Seestar S50Pro on the Pacman nebula. 55 minutes S50Pro, 40 minutes S50, processed in #PixInsight. #astrophotography
NGC281, otherwise known as the Pacman nebula. Reds, yellows and blues indicate different elements, with a background of stars.

Backyard shot of the Pacman nebula (NGC281) in SHO palette.
Nebula that is supposed to be reminscent of packman in shape, edged with redish (sulphur gass) with green (hydrogen) & blue (oxygen) interior. Featuring finger like pillar structures & small dark bok globules all hinting at areas of star formation.

Shot this morning. #NGC281 is also known as the #Pacman #Nebula for its resemblance to the video game character.

NGC 281 The Pac-Man Nebula - telescope processed image. Its nickname comes from a prominent dark lane of obscuring dust that forms a triangular "mouth" cutting into the bright glowing gas. NGC 281 The Pac-Man Nebula - unprocessed image. It contains dense, dark clouds of dust and gas called Bok globules, where intense gravitational collapse is actively forming new stars.

Pushed our 14-inch EdgeHD to f/11 to capture the core of the Pacman Nebula (NGC 281). Zoomed in to resolve sub-arcsecond Evaporating Gaseous Globules (EGGs)—the birthplaces of new solar systems! 🔭✨

A high-resolution narrowband astrophotography image of the core of the Pacman Nebula (NGC 281). The image features towering pillars of cold molecular gas surrounded by glowing, colorful clouds of ionized sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen. At the tips of the dark dust pillars are vivid pinkish-red glowing dots known as Evaporating Gaseous Globules, set against a dark background filled with stars.

Well I struck lucky and the cloud cover broke up long enough to get these 2 images. My third, and best so far, effort on the Pacman Nebula NGC281. I turned then to NGC6888, the Crescent Nebula. Would like to revisit this again over the weekend, weather permitting. 🙂🔭

All set up and ready to go but looks like cloud may well be coming in here. Target is NGC281 in Cassiopeia. Fingers crossed 🤞🔭

So in the end I only had time to take a look at two of my targets tonight. A revisit to NGC281, Pacman Nebula, was quite successful. A 10 minute peep at Polaris shows me I'll need far greater time to capture the dust and gas clouds around it. Another day. 😊🔭

Fingers crossed that after another frustrating 10 day period seeing conditions here in Essex are looking good for tonight. I will only be using the SeestarS50 and going up to the Northern sky for a change, looking at Polaris, NGC281 and finally HD225216.

Pics later, hopefully 🤞🔭
