Some fans have proposed that since Nidhiki and Krekka become pieces of Makuta's body, the movie designers worked backwards to incorporate parts of Makuta's film design into them, hence their differences from the toys. Krekka has Makuta's claws and Nidhiki has his leg pieces.

This is a strange inversion from the storyboards, in which Nidhiki could fire blasts both from his claws and from his mouth. The film has Nidhiki spit mouth-blasts only and the Vahki only use their tools in the aforementioned brief shot.
