In case you haven’t been keeping up, I’ve been posting new NIGHTSMOKE pages!
nightsmokecomic.com
A comic page shows a tense nighttime conversation between Susan, a concerned mother, and her teen son David, who is secretly Nightsmoke) in their dim apartment. The lighting is low, with cool shadows and warm highlights. Panel 1: Susan enters David’s room cautiously, leaning toward him. She looks worried in her white “V” sweatshirt. David sits at his desk, turned partly away. Susan says, “No, you didn’t… I was just worried, that’s all.” David replies, “Worried?” Panel 2: Susan sits on the edge of David’s bed, anxious. Susan says, “He’s back. That horrible Nightsmoke character. They’re saying he attacked some company downtown. I didn’t know where you were. I can’t lose you, David.” Panel 3: David wheels his chair beside his mother and tries to reassure her. Susan turns to him, hands gripping her arms. David says, “I’m fine. I’m home. I’m safe.” Susan answers, “I know, I’m just—” David interrupts gently: “Hey, we’re gonna figure this all out. I know it’s been rough having to move, get out of the public eye. But I’m gonna find a way to clear Dad’s name.” Panel 4: Susan stands, her face full of fear. She says, “I know you’re doing your best. But what if he’s out there? What if Nightsmoke comes for us next?” Panel 5: Close-up of David smiling up at Susan, knowing that he, in fact, is Nightsmoke. He says, “Somehow, I doubt that’ll happen. But I’ll keep digging, don’t worry. I’ll figure this out.” Copyright 2025 Scott Drummond Colors: Andy Poole nightsmokecomic.com.

There's nothing better than supporting the library book sale. 📚🤓❤️

Prices went up a bit this year, but still for 16 books, $9.50 isn't too bad. Plus it's going to the library and not a corporation.
A selfie of me on the walk to the library sale. I have sunglasses on and I am smiling. My shirt is black with a multicolor bookshelf filled with books, cups, and kittens. I'm also holding an umbrella for shade. A peek down into the black tote bag I brought, which is overflowing with books I got at the sale. A lineup of paperbacks that I bought: California Girls by Susan Mallery Wanting What You Get by Kathy Love Getting What you Want by Kathy Love Wanting Something More by Kathy Love Strange Bedpersons by Jennifer Crusie Nightshade / Nightsmoke by Nora Roberts The Last Victim by Karen Robards The Third Grave by Lisa Jackson Liar's Key by Carla Neggers Summer's Child by Luanne Rice The trade paperbacks and hardcovers I got at the library, lined up: Foreplay by Jane Moore The Real Thing by Kay Hooper The Real Deal by Lucy Monroe Absolute Fear by Lisa Jackson The Whisper by Carla Neggers Beautiful Sacrifice by Elizabeth Lowell

I, uh, may have found that I have about eight 98% finished pages of NIGHTSMOKE I haven’t published yet… so, we’re gonna fix that starting on Monday.

If you’re looking to get caught back up, head on over to nightsmokecomic.com
Teen superhero NIGHTSMOKE, wearing a motorcycle jacket, hoodie, helmet and a backpack, flies into the air towards the viewer, his legs turning to smoke. He raises one arm in a heroic pose, while the other carries Mariana, who wears a beanie, a mask over the bottom half of her face and a tactical vest. Her arms have turned to rocks to deflect any incoming attacks and they fly off into the night.

Also did my first bit of runecrafting using a recipe to upgrade my unique Nightsmoke belt from Normal to Exceptional, which increased the slots from 8 to 12 amongst other things. You can tell its Exceptional now as it's identified as a "Mesh Belt" instead of just "Belt."
