Nitinat Lake is what the Scots would call a "sea loch". it's a mainly saltwater lake, subject to tidal forces. The tides and currents in Nitinat Narrows, where it empties into the Pacific & where Carl runs his ferry, are very treacherous. The upper part of the lake is famous with kiteboarders

Ei tullut hiki, kun kosteusprosentti korkealla ja lämpötila noin 30°.

Käy se aamupäiväpyöräilykin Murciassa kesäkuussa.

Lue: hikoilin itseni lähes tajuttomaksi 1h15min lenkin aikana.

Videoon boostasin ääniä, että kuulette miten hiljaista täällä on. Tosin nyt kuulee mun pyörän nitinät myös.

With more old-growth logging to start near #FairyCreek, there's now a new blockade to try and save the ancient forests.

The blockade went up this weekend near the Little Nitinat River & in the Walbran Valley.

The tree displayed as a sanded “cookie” or disc at the Museum of Vancouver germinated in 1093.
It was logged along the banks of the Nitinat River in 1968.
Nearly 60 years later, old-growth trees in TFL (tree farm license) 44 along the river are under threat of logging by Western Forest Products.

The crab is fished fresh out of water in front of you and cooked to order. It's part of Nitinat Wilderness (inside the reservation) and is an amazing treat after freeze dried food and exhaustion.

Btw I'm still in disbelief that we're in the middle of nowhere but there's still coverage!

This one is not looking good, really hope that rain arrives sooner than later. This is affecting communities of Nitinat and Bamfield as well Bamfield Main which is the only connecting southern road access which is now closed.
The fire south of Port Alberni expanded from 50 hectares to 630 hectares in a couple of hours. The massive amount of smoke from the fire is down the coast to Oregon this morning.
