Tom Brennan - My Ten Most Exciting Mets Minor Leaguers of 2026
Mitch Voit. Photo courtesy of Manny Gomez, NJAM TEN MOST EXCITING MINOR LEAGUERS OF 2026 Recently, I did a post on my most disappointing 10 minor leaguers of 2026, and today, the ten most exciting ones of 2026. Let’s stick, first of all, with guys who haven’t graduated to the big leagues yet. So, Jefry Yan, who’s had a fine split season, Nate Lavender (an even finer year), the exciting AJ Ewing, the very competitive Zach Thornton, and Nick Morabito are not in this top 10….they've all graduated. With them excluded, who are my ten most exciting? AAA Jefferson Rojas, Billy Amick, and Emilien Pitre - they only got to AAA relatively briefly post trade, but they did great.    - Rojas? 12 HRs and 36 RBIs in 35 post-trade games. What??  - Amick? 15 HRs and 36 RBIs in 36 post-trade games. What??  - Pitre?  34 hits and 10 walks in 30 games, with just 14 Ks. What?? AA Mitch Voit - after escaping Brooklyn, he went .347/.430/.517 in AA. 45 SB. Bryce Jenkins - 8-2, 1.66 ERA in 45 outings. BAA of just .147. Marco Vargas - injured, slow first half. Second half?  35 G, .331/.399/.496. HIGH A Daviel Hurtado - 77 Brooklyn innings, 5-3, 2.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP. Elian Peña - 18 y/o lefty bat was great in St Lucie, but struggled (3 for 22 in a terrible Brooklyn park for lefty hitters, and only somewhat better on the road). Get him out of hell and over to Binghamton in 2027. Aiden Smith - in 21 post-trade games, .321/.414/.524! 27 SB in 80 G, 15 HR! FULL A Zack Mack in relief went a clutch 10-2, 2.85 in 35 games.  That’s my ten.  Not necessarily my highest ceiling ten, but they sure did fine in 2026. CASEY STENGEL HAD A GAME PLAN IN 1962. COULDN’T WIN, SO HE WENT “LOVABLE LOSERS”. MY GAME PLAN? I HAVE ONE OF MY OWN. I’ll get right to it.  MY game plan? I plan to devote less time to writing about the Micro-Mutts this off season. Frequency of said articles? Probably once or more likely twice weekly. If (Hi, I’m) Howie Rose can retire, I can slow down a bit here.   Heck, I am 3 months his senior, tho’ I’m healthier than most Mets players. Whatever I write about involving all things Mets seems to matter not a whit to decision makers… They make their many mistakes anyway, so I won’t invest much time in Mets-related writing and will spend more time doing other things that are more important to me and that I have devoted insufficient time and effort to. I will, fairly soon, do my Top 30, of course, because the Kids Are All Right, even if the Queens dudes are not, and I invite my fellow Mack’s Mets writers to share their thoughts on the kids.   I will say what I like - and what I think the top 30 need to do better.   I also will list out the next 20 (31-50).  Some of those outside the Top 30 eventually will make it to the bigs. I will summarize non-player-specific ideas to make the team better. I will do a multi-post refresh on past years’ draft successes, and failures, and draft patterns to embrace and to avoid. I will, of course, comment on my fellow writers’ posts, and encourage every reader to do the same and to run topics for discussion by Mack.  It will be a long off-season, a long time until the next poorly or overly conditioned fool pulls an oblique muscle and misses half a season. Lastly, I will encourage you elite readers to reach out to Mack if you have a passion for writing about the Mets. I will not watch the playoffs (maybe a little of the World Series), so I will not spend my time on the playoffs if the Mets will not spend time playing playoff games.

Steve Sica - Reviewing the Mets Top Prospects (4-6)
Mitch Voit. Photo courtesy of Manny Gomez, NJAM In a continuation of last week's series, let's continue to check in on how the Mets' top prospects performed for the 2026 season. Starting off with number four, per MLB Pipeline 4. SS Mitch Voit:  Voit started slowly, opening the season with High-A Brooklyn. He put up an OPS of .699 in April and .696 in May. It looked like another first-round draft-pick bust for the Mets as summer arrived. But as the weather heated up, so did Voit. He bounced back in June by batting .305, a .901 OPS, along with 12 stolen bases while only getting caught once. Voit continued his summer surge in July, putting up an OPS of .755 and ending the month with a promotion to Double-A Binghamton. The 21-year-old had burst onto the scene quickly. 13 months after being drafted with the 38th overall pick, Voit was already moving on up to Double-A. With Binghamton, Voit put up cartoonish numbers. In August, his first full month in Double-A, Voit batted .400 in 89 at-bats, put up an OPS of 1.089, collected 15 RBIs, with nine doubles. He had a four-hit game on August 2nd against Reading, and two days later, had the first five-hit game of his professional career. In 29 games with Binghamton. In a league where he was playing with guys over two years his senior, Voit batted .347 with an OPS of .947. He was honored in mid-September at Citi Field as one of the Mets' best prospects in 2026.  Like Carson Benge in 2024, the Mets hope that their top draft pick in 2025 continues to rise quickly up the ranks in MiLB and become a key factor in the very near future in Queens. 5. SS Wandy Asigen: He turned 17 only a month ago, playing most of his Dominican Summer League season at the age of just 16. He's the youngest player on the Mets' top prospect list, but don't let his age fool you. He's earned the ranking of the Mets' fifth-best prospect, and he proved it this season. Asigen's season ended prematurely on August 6th, after just 23 DSL games. It couldn't have come at a worse time. During his last three games, he was 3-for-7, with four walks, and hit a home run in three of his last six games. Overall, though, Asigen's first professional season was a success; considering he was one of the youngest players in the league, he batted .279 with an OPS of .994. He drove in nine runs and was most impressive with his patience at the plate. He walked 19 times to 24 strikeouts in 83 plate appearances.  Much like other top international prospect, Elian Pena, the Mets seem to have found a diamond out of the Dominican Republic. Will the Mets have Asigen skip the FCL and promote him straight to Low-A St. Lucie in 2027? Due to his age and his lack of games in the Dominican this season, I say they'll start him up in the DSL for the summer of 2027, with a promotion stateside to the FCL on the horizon. 6. 3B Jacob Reimer:  After putting together a sensational 2025 season, as Reimer posted an OPS of .870 across High-A and Double-A, he came into 2026 regarded as one of the Mets' top prospects and even cracked a few expert top-100 overall prospects in all of baseball. Unfortunately for Reimer, an early-season slump and mid-summer injuries defined his 2026 season. After ending May with a batting average of .225 and an OPS of .753, Reimer would only play in 14 total games in June and July, and most of those were rehab assignments in lower levels. However, once Reimer got healthy, he returned to his 2025 form. In August for Double-A Binghamton, Reimer had a batting average of .302, drove in 17 runs, recorded 26 hits and 10 walks in 100 plate appearances. It was very encouraging to see Reimer close out 2026 strong. Pipeline still has him ranked well within the top-10 Met prospects, and while his stock did take a hit this season, he's only 22 years old, and if he can stay healthy in 2027, there's no reason to think he can't rocket himself back up the prospect rankings and maybe even straight up to the Majors.
