The last time the Olympics had widespread sex eligibility testing, the results were disastrous.

Add social media to that fire now. Intersex athletes will not only have their lives upended, they'll be brutally targeted for harassment and potential violence.

I'm going to need the same full-throated criticism of the 2026 men's World Cup here in the US that we did for the last one. And it's never been a better time for NOlympics! The guns and the human rights violations (re: immigration, repro rights, trans rights) are more than enough.

But for the people of Los Angeles, LA28 brings the possibility of something even more alarming. What if the Olympics never left? This is the Forever Games, or a permanent state of mega-event hosting in our city. Several former host leaders, reeling from the disastrous effects of the Olympics visiting their communities, have spoken in favor of this idea. In Los Angeles, the Forever Games is being championed by Olympic chair Casey Wasserman and his LA Sports and Entertainment Council. Wasserman & Soboroff have been plotting on this opportunity for a while. They’ve been funding LAPD’s “housing for hires” as a way to funnel $ to their real estate buddies.

They are going to do the same thing and take advantage of the crisis now in Los Angeles.
