Xi went to school all week, then extra on Saturday his whole life. Trump had others take his tests, and can barely read.

That's when we knew as well.

But c(NA,1:3) %notin% 1:2 returns
[1] TRUE FALSE FALSE TRUE
if using function(x, table) match(x, table, nomatch = 0L) == 0L
Is that what we want?

I don’t think Grindr has a filter for his type. 😬📵 #NoMatch #FilterFail

This can also be defined analogously to %in% itself:

`%not_in%` <- function(x, table) {
match(x, table, nomatch = 0L) == 0L
}

Note the == where %in% has >

As it is defined as a five liner (with a special case relying on C code for tables) you could add the alternative case as a one-liner in your .Rprofile:

"%notin%" <- function(x, table) match(x, table, nomatch = 0L) == 0L

Of course, you now get a masking warning when loading the package 🥲

WJAT THE FREAK !!!! ur nomatch for my Sparkel magic

This is one of my favourite simple functions: it is a wrapper for ?match:

"%in%" <- function(x, table) match(x, table, nomatch = 0) > 0

And if we just wrap the wrapper with Negate we get "not in":

"%ni%" <- Negate("%in%")

Yeah I want more like raven bell, no match, zao! Exactly. An yeah I needed to go to nomatch again, I did end up getting few more styles :3

In a script (but not a package), you could define it conditionally to guard against future redefinitions in base R while also making it backward-compatible with earlier R versions:

if (!exists("%notin%")) {
`%notin%` <- function(x, table) match(x, table, nomatch = 0L) == 0L
}

match(x, y) tells you the first position of each x in y. it answers the question: x[1] is the __th element in y? setting nomatch to 0 uses a 0 for when an item isn't found. "0L" means the integer 0, not the floating point number 0.

Totally agree!
I just don't use data.frame or tibbles anymore, {data.table} is loaded in every R file I create 😆
And things like

df[, r := .I ]
df[df, on=.(r > r), nomatch=0]

to perform permutation is just both clever and crazy efficient (especially when doing with grouping operations)
