Text: Even with the air conditioning running, the apartment was a touch too warm, a humid warm carrying with it the mouthwatering scents of Ember’s favorite foods. The apartment smelled like garlic, simmering tomatoes, basil. Their father had always shown his love through his cooking, and now it seemed that love was coming through as spaghetti, maybe, if Ember was lucky, lasagna. They felt queasy, but there was a yearning to sit down with their father and eat, talk things through like old times. They could really use some lasagna right now.
