Here’s some more analysis on how the new ban on the import of foreign drone components is going to impact drone manufacturing (the impacts are not, I imagine, gonna be good)

The Ocean Film Festival has perfectly captured everything I hate about LinkedIn. 10/10, no notes

I'll post a few more below, but you can see all 10 images here: www.instagram.com/p/DYJpsALkhE...
Two columns divided by a black line. One side had a crab with the headline "reality." The other side has the same crab wearing a tie with the LinkedIn logo Reality Walked sideways into a rock and got stuck LinkedIn I don't move in straight lines -and that's intentional. Lateral thinking has taken me places conventional forward-motion leaders never reach. Yesterday that included a high-value geological formation. Disruption isn't always a straight path. #LateralThinking #Disruption #NonLinearGrowth

The Trump administration keeps screwing over small businesses. Including the small drone-making businesses they claim to support.

www.electronicdesign.com/blogs/nonlin...
Small Business Effects Small U.S. drone integrators, FPV shops, and specialist service providers are exposed immediately because most "American-branded" airframes still rely heavily on foreign motors, batteries, and flight-control hardware. Retailers importing components through common e-commerce channels are likely to see shipments delayed, seized, or refused, with shelves for popular SKUs thinning quickly. At the same time, the compliance and legal overhead created by DA 25-1086 will hit small entities hardest, as they often lack in-house regulatory teams to track evolving covered-list interpretations and potential exemptions. Many will be forced either to narrow product lines to clearly compliant domestic components, if they even exist, or pivot toward service-only models that reuse existing customer hardware rather than selling new, potentially covered equipment.

Got a couple of earlier albums from Steve Hauschildt, but don’t have this one. Really love his music so nice for a wee visit and to something I’m less familiar with ‘Nonlin’ (2019, DL Hi-Res), nice electronic music and great use of synths harking back to older traditions 😎👍

in neuroscience there's a cottage industry "reading out" neural representations with linear or nonlin decoders which "decode" or "reconstruct" the image.

there must be a similar literature for ANNs? I want to see what the reconstructions look like for eg CIFAR, layer by layer...references plz ?

I had exactly the same question about embedding/intrinsic + nonlin manifold! But don’t have a good story for why center-out would had a more linear manifold, so still buy it.

BTW they found >75 dims for 90% variance — bigger than 12 (or 30), def smaller than the 1000 neurons they recorded.
