The place to look for nonlinearity in an LLM are the activation functions. Ironically, some very successful ones are just two lines.
You know that all they do is linear algebra, right? They aren’t doing anything a TI-84 can’t do, they just do it faster.

One of the big important elements in soulsbornes is that on a second playthrough, the nonlinearity of the world allows you to enter places way earlier than normal. To rush for a weapon or upgrade stuff early, if you can survive to do it.

it doesn't work without the nonlinearity! all of the rotation / stretching / whatever is only so you can put the activations through the dissipative operations in the nonlinearities, because otherwise you cannot converge to a manifold of lower dimension than the model in finite time / condition.
