Britain’s feral parakeet population has mostly been limited to London. But their numbers and range are expanding, which has biologists worried. A nonnative species in the city is one thing. But they pose a serious threat to agriculture.

We’ve heard before that nonnative species can’t reproduce (Callery Pear trees). While native grasses may not grow as tall, they provide the same erosion protection, also require no fertilizer, but they do something miscanthus probably doesn’t—aid our native insects and animals that evolved here.

I worked. My partner worked. We did not inherit a dime until my father passed in his 90s. It was inheritance saved by my Eisenhower-voting grandfather. Social Security is our retirement investment. Our earned dollars. The parasite, scummy grifter is a morally-corrupt nonnative South African.
REMINDER: The billionaire who poured hundreds of millions of dollars into far-right campaigns this year wants to see our Social Security system destroyed so he can avoid paying his taxes.

Almost half of respondents in a newly published survey said they would consider a nonnative species to be native after 100 years.
🐺 Perceptions of nativeness shift quite rapidly over time

"How we think about species is often bound up in whether we perceive them as native or not. Here we show that nativeness isn’t static"

Imo nonnative english speakers feel a kind of relatability when seeing us fumble a phrase the same way they would in our nonsensical language. “Ah, you too!” kind of relief

It’s also a chance to be kind about a mistake-> whether you’re making one or gently pointing it out. That’s imp to practice
