obsessed with this vague notice from the government of Nova Scotia. Like it’s definitely about the new fire restrictions, but it also looks like a poster you’d find yellowed and curled on the bulletin board of a diner in a town where locals won’t talk about their missing kids

Remember last year some parents complained that the school lunch program didn't have 'normal kids foods like chicken nuggets'?

We got chicken nuggets this year... and my kid is not impressed. Says they were tiny and had burn marks and were mostly bread.

Do not operate drones in a wildfire area. It is illegal. It can interfere with our firefighting efforts. The fine is $25,000 under the Forests Act, there could be fines under federal legislation as well.

…municipal council, failing to re-establish elected school boards (as he promised to do), and many other examples. Houston has no interest in others’ views and works only for himself and his billionaire pals. He needs to go. #nspoli #nsgov

I’m not thrilled about increasing tuition, but kudos to Ontario for acknowledging that there’s a crisis in universities caused by under-resourcing and recognizing that “Postsecondary education is one of Ontario’s most important long-term investments.” #cdnpse

Speaking of Public Safety, Premier/Mayor #TimHouston, 1 million Nova Scotians had their privacy breached by NSGov, and into your second term, you still have not given your #Privacy Commissioner the power to do her job?

Take a break from Mayoring and put your Premier Pull-Ups back on #NSPoli

“the project supports the municipality’s Integrated Mobility Plan and Rapid Transit Strategy, helping improve how the current transportation network functions across all modes”

Please show us how that will do that for “all modes”, NSgov!?!!

We need CCPA and their analysis. Not cool #nsgov
Is the #NovaScotia government really not going to invite @ccpanovascotia.bsky.social to the stakeholder lock-up? Is our analysis really that threatening?
Budget is tabled at 1pm Feb 18. I will be down at the NS Leg to respond regardless; we do appreciate the 40 mins extra to read & ask questions.

NSgov - we're Canada's capital for defence!

Me - soooo we're the first place an invading nation would bomb, cool, great. 🙄

ICYMI @nsgov

Ya can't fix stupid even with a $25k fine
meanwhile FB posts are full of "but it doesn't say private land so it doesn't apply to me", "but it doesn't say tantallon so I'm good", "but it doesn't say concrete firepits so I'm good", "but I'm in a campground so I'm allowed". "if it meant everything it should have specifically said..."

NSGov is cutting teaching positions, and trotting out the rationale that “spending has increased but student outcomes have not”

Conservatives love this talking point, and they especially live to use it while going into negotiations (NSTU contract is up soon)

I just opened the comments on the nsgov post on facebook, and learned that the PC government’s decisions are based on the “liberal agenda”.

Ask yourself why Houston wants to change the legislation and why he's enabling auditor-general reports to be kept secret. I can think of no good policy reason. Once again, Houston's thin skin is motivating dumbass decision-making. 3/3 #nspoli @nsgov @jeanlaroche.bsky.social @timbousquet.bsky.social

Halifax has seven universities and the two largest announced the sudden end to their provosts' terms *this week*. Quite apart from the relative merits of those decisions, it speaks to the chaos in #nspse under the current #nsgov.
Community Chaos
Alt: The famous scene from Community where someone returns with pizza to find chaos in the apartment, with two people helping someone on the floor and another trying to put out flames that cover 3-4 square meters of the same floor.

Anyone who volunteers for any NSgov program should stop immediately.
Volunteering is an exchange , giving back to a system that does great things.
The system is about to so not great things. So the Cons do not deserve its volunteers at this time.

Instead, NSgov is requiring Dal to spend 💰💰 to assess all of its programs all at once (usually done in rotation & grouped by unit, so all of a dept’s programs are assessed every 7 years, incl external review, as is standard in #cdnpse), and create a master’s in real estate.

Priorities? #nspse 😢

Why & how is this scum out on parole so soon? @nsgov

Colin Hugh Tweedie was sentenced to 4½ yrs in prison in July 2024.

He did everything wrong - drunk, hit & run, dragged for 1½ km.
