It's a red alert level thing for the NTSB -- not the FAA, but the NTSB -- to show this level of political interference already
The NTSB says it will no longer email news outlets or reporters with notifications of upcoming press conferences, including those on plane crashes in Washington and Philadelphia.

Instead, all notifications will be made on X.

We're filing a FOIA to find out more about the change in policy.

The NTSB is one of the best, most professional and dedicated organizations in the government. No one - especially not the president - should be speculating on the cause of a crash until the NTSB has done its job.

AND STILL NO NTSB? WHAT WAS THE POINT

NTSB is the last exemplar of independent professionalism in federal government, because we used to think stopping plane crashes was a goal beyond partisanship

“fucking with the NTSB” is where I, an air disaster nerd, start to get real twitchy
"'This is the first time in modern history that the White House has removed a board member,' said Jeff Guzzetti [a] former FAA and NTSB investigator. … Brown was just over a year into his five-year term on the board."

Ah, okay.
Trump administration abruptly removes vice chair of the NTSB
The removal of the vice chair of the independent safety board is highly unusual and comes as the agency is investigating several high-profile calamities.

Random observation about this press conference and the coming NTSB.

Given the…remarks…from the president (and everything that’s in the wind) how confident can we be that the NTSB will be able to deliver an accurate and objective report?

I’m not

This first press conference is a political event from elected officials, no comment from NTSB thus far. The U.S. doesn't have an acting FAA administrator.

Sitting with Amelia Beadelia is going to end with a confusing NTSB report.

Anyway as they pull bodies out of the Potomac bear in mind that the guiding ethos of Trumpism is that the TSA, NTSB, and FAA should be radically downsized and run by dudes whose main qualifications are loyalty are a willingness to say “cunt” a lot

NTSB #5X2976 Briefing 1, NTSB board member Todd Inman:

· CVR and FDR (Black boxes) recovered, believe they will be able to get data
· 28 NTSB staff on scene by the end of the day

also the FAA, a regulator, and the NTSB, a regulator
Musk has clear conflicts of interest with CFPB, a regulator, and the Defense Department, who pays him as a contractor.

Trump has said that only Musk can determine if he has a conflict.

Musk is following through on his pledge to "delete" CFPB and is now turning his sights on DOD.
NEWS --> Dems fear a Defense Department IG review of Elon Musk's flouting of security protocol as a big recipient of Pentagon contracts is now dead under Trump. DOD launched the probe in 2024, but then Trump fired DOD's IG, so what happened to that probe?
