Yall aren't ready once I work on R&D'ing my obesogenic polypill. An oral formulation comprised of semi-synthetic, appetite-response specific, analogues derived from clinically proven pharmaceutical obesogens coated in a highly-caloric substance.

Lots of PPAR action there, but could there be other effects as well?
What about positive feedback cycles that regulate intake , not just adipogenesis ?

Actually there are lots of studies showing how these chemicals called obesogens increase insulin resistance and lipid accumulation, and affect the gut microbiome.

As someone who was prescribed one of the anti-depressants linked to obesogens (for its intended use), it’s def not a shortcut, you still need to eat a cal surplus every day to see any real gains. In my experience as someone with a “fast metabolism”, it only leveled the field. Be smart, don’t die.

I don't have answers but these are questions *researchers* flagged for me. If we zoom out more broadly to like ALL plastics, one of the theories why we're all gaining weight (even lab animals!) is because of obseognens basically chemicals that promote weight gain

In July 2024, I joined Dr. Dom D’Agostino to explore obesogens like BPA, phthalates, and glyphosate... and how they shape obesity beyond calories.

Recent findings demonstrate that such endocrine-disrupting chemicals, termed “obesogens”, can promote adipogenesis and cause weight gain. This includes compounds to which the human population is exposed in daily life through their use

These chemicals have fancy names like bisphenol A, phthalates and polybrominated diphenyl ethers — and unfortunately, they are pretty much everywhere.

I don't agree with this at all. If they grew up poor in the US they were exposed from an early age to obesogens. This disregulated their hormonal system. EVERYONE is exposed to obesogens but the effects of poverty related trauma compounds the affects.

Chemicals in plastics associated with obesity

In the last 10 years, a subset of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) called obesogens has been shown to cause obesity in animals and has been associated with more fat mass in humans.

The most common explanation for obesity is overeating calorie-rich foods and a sedentary lifestyle. But new studies suggest that chemicals in our environment might be another cause.

We could also think about toxins/obesogens in our food, water, environment. And then be more like Europe, and utilize the precautionary principle, to ensure chemicals are safe before we let them loose on people.

Research Suggests Ways to Avoid Exposure to “Obesogens” - Beyond Pesticides Daily News Blog
(Beyond Pesticides, June 14, 2018) With nearly 40% of Americans diagnosed as clinically obese, leading to health care costs estimated at over $200 billion, researchers are focusing on ways individuals can reduce their exposure to chemicals that contribute to weight gain regardless of diet or exercise. These chemicals, known as “obesogens,” include a range of consumer products, from pesticides to plastics and flame retardants. While diet and exercise remain critically important to fighting the ongoing obesity epidemic, obesogens may be working to increase appetite, fat storage, or make it more difficult for the body to shed fat once it is gained. In a presentation at the European Society for Endocrinology in Barcelona, researchers from the Universities of Aveiro and Beira Interior, Portugal identified ways these chemicals are entering our environment, and good habits to employ in order to reduce obesogen exposure. “Obesogens can be found almost everywhere, and our diet is a main source of exposure, as some pesticides and artificial sweeteners are obesogens. Equally, they are present in plastics and home products, so completely reducing exposure is extremely difficult – but to significantly reduce it is not only feasible, but also very simple”, lead researcher Ana Catarina Sousa, PhD, […]
