3. Stevens described Abdul El-Sayed’s focus on Israel as “obsessive, obsessive, obsessive,” called some of his positions “anti-American,” and said Iran is the “opposite of our friend.”

“I wasn’t being honest with myself after a certain point,” she told Reingold.

Significantly, it is Stevens’ position on Israel that seems obsessive

How the hell can she say Abdul is obsessive about Israel. SHE LITERALLY SAID ISRAEL COMES TO HER IN HER DREAMS!

It’s always really satisfying to see what happens when a bully fails to get any traction or reaction, almost immediately sounding like dweebs and/or obsessive psychopaths
Mike Rogers: "It's Abdul's birthday today, on Halloween. So we thought, wouldn't it be nice if we got him a gift basket? A football because he thinks football is toxic masculinity! We hope he gains some appreciation for what we love right here in Michigan. Fireworks! Bc he said he hates fireworks"

I’m not saying people can’t disagree with him on Israel. But “obsessive” about Israel is not the impression I have of his campaign.

Man, she really thinks the *other* person is being obsessive about Israel isn’t she?

Physician…

Haley says "ISRAEL COMES TO ME IN MY DREAMS!"....so she is good at knowing when someone is being obsessive.

The "Israel comes to me in my dreams" lady can NOT say this lol

I'm obsessive-compulsive. How are you?

Calling someone else "obsessive, obsessive, obsessive" is unfortunately extremely funny

Without really being able to say why this is I actually think that transphobia has an unusually high propensity to drive its proponents off the wall. Just based on casual observation and vibes, but it seems to me that people who become Gender Bigots seem to get obsessive and chauvinist real quick.
I think there’s been a rhetorical tendency to say “they won’t stop at trans people! they’re coming for everyone else too!” and while that has always been true for the US religious right aspect of this, it *wasn’t* true for many of the people leading the UK movement, and now it increasingly is.

Haley Stevens describing SOMEONE ELSE'S focus on Israel "obsessive" is a level of projection heretofore unseen outside of 70mm IMAX theaters.

Why does "true crime" always have to mean murder, where's the obsessive fandom dedicated to bank robberies and jewel heists

I think it feels catastrophic for the obsessive transphobes because they have very rigid ideas about gender that are so foundational to their sense of reality that having them challenged is essentially brain-breaking.

What’s been “obsessive, obsessive, obsessive” has been the media’s focus on his policy views on Israel to the exclusion of virtually every other issue, starting with the Hasan Piker fiasco, in which a Senate candidate was held responsible for the statements of a Twitch streamer.

I genuinely believe it is because there are, relatively, very few trans people out there so to keep making it your main thing requires committing to an obsessive level of focus.

The most racist parts of America at least have black people, transphobia is like being driven insane by ghosts

Please lord let me never become such an ethnic or tribal obsessive or nationalist that I pretend to like shitty art.

I think part of it is that obsessive transphobia is usually a tell for the deeper problem: being Way Too Online. To really nourish your anti-trans hate, you need to be deeply plugged into social media--and that leaves you vulnerable to every other kind of hard right radicalisation.

Hunh, political forms choosing to express themselves via obsessive adaptation and interpretation of fictional characters?

I propose we create fields of study to investigate narrative and storytelling to get to the bottom of this
