#ochropsora
Looked for Ochropsora hippophaes on a few planted sea buckthorns on the way home from work. Found it on the first location. Seems like it is indeed already well established in the Netherlands. Will be interesting to see if it is also present on the wild coastal seabuckthorns. #fungifriends #rust

first dutch inaturalist record of ochropsora hippophaes, a rust fungus on seal buckthorn recently described by chinese scientists, so far found also in austria, switzerland, germany, and belarus, but seemingly widespread where sea buckthorn is (i found it immediately at the second spot i checked)

If I understand the paper correctly (not that easy in Chinese), it seems like there are also proper telia present but with teliospores rather embedded in the leaf (like in Ochropsora aria e.g.). Definitely something to look out for this fall.

I noticed strange elongated wood anemone leaves at Hagg Wood - the cause was a rarely seen rust Ochropsora ariae
