"In 2025, I was proud to be elected Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. I take my responsibility to represent the LGBTQ+ community—and, as a trans woman, especially the trans community—very seriously. I am deeply disturbed by the concerted effort by the Ohio Democratic Party to silence fellow Democrats attempting to hold candidates accountable for anti-trans positions and advertising. Twice today, a mild, respectful statement from a county party was deleted from the Pride Caucus social media channels. Let me be explicit: these deletions were not executed by the Pride Caucus. They were carried out directly by the Ohio Democratic Party itself, overreaching to censor our platform. That statement didn't attack the congresswoman; it simply asked her to discontinue her anti-trans ads. Apparently, even that basic demand for human dignity is too much for ODP leadership.This censorship must be called out. The only thing more disgusting than a Democrat leaning into transphobic messages for a perceived electoral advantage is a state party apparatus that steps in to silence the people criticizing that behavior.I have no doubt some within leadership would love for me to resign to make their lives easier. But it has never been my job to make the lives of bureaucrats—who trade on trans rights like a commodity—easier. My job is to fight for my community and ensure we are represented. I will continue to do exactly that, even when it makes the 'powers that be' uncomfortable. A Democratic Party that abandons the marginalized is a soulless party. I won't stop trying to save the heart and soul of this party, I won't be silenced, and I won't allow the voices of our community to be silenced." 1. In major news, the Ohio Dem Party has banned the Progressive Caucus from criticizing candidate for Gov. Amy Acton's transphobia.

It has now applied more pressure to quiet criticism of anti-trans politics than it has on its own nominee to stop embracing them.

Weil hier diese puritanische Öko-Kleinpartei häufiger genannt wird: Ihr wisst aber schon, dass die ÖDP sich damals von den Grünen abgesetzt hat, weil die ihnen zu feministisch und zu links waren? Und dass die ÖDP jahrzehntelang ein faktisches Abtreibungsverbot forderte, wisst Ihr auch, hoffe ich?

Ciara is not the only person who is reporting this stuff out. The ODP and Acton are abandoning transgender people, and I doubt there will be any walkback from Acton (and in fact, we may see worse in the future).

The Ohio Democratic party is censoring its own members from criticizing Amy Acton. This even includes the Pride Caucus chair who has to criticize her from their personal capacity.

They've threatened to kick caucuses out that formally criticize Acton over her transphobic positions.

If Chair Clyde and the rest of the leadership of the ODP agree with anti-trans bigotry, then they are free to say so. But they should not silence folks who disagree.

This conduct by the Clyde-led ODP is no surprise. Their censorship regime is a cancer.

The Vice Chair of the Ohio Pride Caucus has also posted a statement, where at the very end, she clearly calls out the Ohio Democratic Party and says "I'm posting this strictly in my capacity as a trans advocate" and telling ODP to "save yourself a phone call, because I will not be taking this down"
