#onycholysis
Dermatologist says it is just onycholysis and I need to take a break from manicures for awhile.
So..Tik Tok has me all concerned that these splinter fractures, the fever I have been having off and on for weeks and the chest pain I have been writing off as my costochondritis might be related. If I have endocarditis I will cry. I have a dermatologist appointment tomorrow.

Also thinking a lot about how they did hands in #arcane
Two particular thoughts:
1) Jayce 'big ass hands' Talis
2) those details like slight detachment of nails from the nail bed and overall realistic unevenness (happy mild onycholysis (?) on Viktor's forefinger day)

My 2 month journey with Onycholysis. This occurred due to a non-uv nail glue reaction. There are still small areas of lifting on several nails, but so much better!

Syphilis can affect fingernails causing changes like nail pitting, splitting, detachment from the nail bed (onycholysis), and inflammation around the nail (paronychia), collectively referred to as "syphilitic onychopathy"; these changes can occur in any stage of the disease.

I still don’t think they were bad at their jobs. I didn’t have psoriasis on my chart. I didn’t have the typical plaques, I had guttate and inverse, and it came and went. I did have the classic nail pitting and onycholysis, but PsA would have to be on the differential to look.

Onycholysis (Fingernail or Toenail Separation)
Onycholysis happens when your fingernail or toenail separates from its nail bed. This condition is relatively common, especially with nail injuries, infections, exposure to harsh chemicals or moisture, or certain skin conditions like psoriasis.  Once separated, the nail can't reattach to the skin. Treatments like good nail hygiene, protecting your nails, and addressing the cause can encourage new nail growth. The experience and appearance of this onycholysis can vary depending on which part of the nail begins to separate from your nail bed first. Onycholysis types include:  Distal onycholysis: This is the most common type of onycholysis.

Did you know that raynauds can cause onycholysis (nail seperation from the nail bed)?

I didn't! Until my dermatologist appointment today!

I just have to manage my raynauds better I guess????

*of course, that should be "onycholysis".

The actual reason this is funny is astronauts sometimes get their fingernails removed before they go into space, because often, when working in spacesuits for extended periods, their fingernails detach and it's painful. It's called Onycholysis.
