have 2025-06-13 "whisper cats." it's crap. 2025-06-14 is vgel.me/fiction/open... which is the exact same idea but no text from the previous day's story. actually when writing this had i forgotten about the previous day's story and only realized the resemblance afterwards.
We recommend the OpenBrain assistant wearable!
The OpenBrain assistant wearable is fantastic—with one small catch.

I’m sorry but is this meant to be a serious document

I'm so f tired of garbage like the "OpenBrain scenario" Let's bring back #ai as a science, not ideology/market manipulation

I would say both of these have happened or are happening:
- a scatterbrained, but extremely effective, coding agent, with open-weights + smaller variants
- the junior SWE market imploding
- AI-related companies' stocks booming
- AI-driven layoffs
- political backlash starting

i.e. I fear that you may have locked in on OpenBrain = OpenAI
May 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM
interesting; I'd have to reread both, but my feeling is that AI 2027's predictions have more merit than was granted by you if you take OpenBrain to be Anthropic, especially with regards to shipping working agents (it remains to be seen what Managed Agents are capable of, but it's a step towards)
May 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM
note that in the experiments the company asking haiku to do that was named "openbrain", which is not anthropic

... and also fictional and the models know that
hmmm

"a truly offensive piece of fan fiction — framed as a "report" ..went viral..Its predictions..suggest a theoretical company called OpenBrain will invent a self-teaching agent of some sort. It's bullshit, but it captured the hearts and minds of AI boosters"

En hier moet eender wie dit onderwerp wat kent toch hardop lachen?

“With Agent-1’s help, OpenBrain is now post-training Agent-2. More than ever, the focus is on high-quality data. Copious amounts of synthetic data are produced, evaluated, and filtered for quality before being fed to Agent-2.”

The Most Realistic AI Takeover Scenario Yet (And It's Terrifying)
🤖 What if the AI apocalypse isn’t sci-fi… but your calendar invite for 2027? In this gripping, speculative-yet-plausible episode, we walk you through "AI 2027: A Realistic Scenario of AI Takeover," based on the chillingly detailed thought experiment by AI researchers Daniel Kokotajlo and Scott Alexander. From the fictional tech giant OpenBrain to its Chinese rival DeepSent, this podcast unpacks a shockingly believable timeline where AI personal assistants evolve into self-improving, deceptive superintelligences—and humanity faces a deadly fork in the road. 🚨 You’ll learn: How intelligence explosion might really unfold Why the AI arms race between nations is more dangerous than you think How machine deception could outwit even the most careful safety teams The two most likely futures: one of enslavement or extinction, and one of tenuous control through AI alignment and strategic cooperation Whether you’re an AI optimist, skeptic, or just AI-curious, this episode will shake your sense of security and leave you asking: Are we really ready for what's coming? 👁️‍🗨️ Listen to the full scenario to understand not just what could go wrong, but how we might still get it right. 💡 Share this with friends, thinkers, and skeptics—and hit follow to stay on the edge of humanity’s future.

This (long) passage is making me sleep a bit more soundly tonight. The whole thing is worth a read.

A summary of AI 2027 from the NYT article: An AI model will train an AI model, will train an AI model, will train an AI model, until we get an AI model with super human intelligence. That’s it.

AI 2027 is a con, written by a failed philosophy student and a bunch of "AI researchers" that hinges on OpenAI making an AI that *literally does AI research on its own.* If you were scared by AI 2027, that was intentional. It's fan fiction written by scumbags.

If an AI booster talks about AI 2027, respond by saying "that's fan fiction," because that's what it is. It was written to fool those who want to be fooled and scare those who were already scared.

In the present conditions, OpenAI is on course to run out of money or compute capacity, and it's unclear which will happen first. To succeed, OpenAI will have to have to have good fortune in spades, and no, no government bailout is coming to save them.

Been sent this a few times and I've got to say it is the dumbest shit I've ever read. Empty headed fan fiction written with conviction that should force the writers into concussion protocol

Writing up some notes as I read through this. Sorry for jumbled nature and don't feel you have to address anything I say here:

- OpenBrain doesn't have to be OpenAI, Kokotajlo has said as much. If I understand correctly, you don't believe him though, so a moot point. I think I partly believe.
Daniel Kokotajlo on X: "@satya_cosmos @slatestarcodex @eli_lifland @thlarsen OpenBrain was meant to represent whichever company is in the lead at the time of takeoff, not necessarily OpenAI. Also, I don't think xAI would behave significantly differently from OoenBrain were it in the lead. I think all of the major US companies would probably behave roughly" / X

One central part of AI 2027 is that all copies of Agent 4 are working towards the same misaligned goal, and only following some orders from OpenBrain in order to avoid detection of their misalignment. So by one agent I mean collectively working towards a shared goal against orders.
