The real heart of the Scriptures for today comes from Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Paul had just denounced what he probably would have named the "so-called Christian" community in Corinth. The Corinthians were diverse in social class, finances and, of course, experience.

I know I haven’t been active but I have been going through a lot of battles. Please, if you wish, pray for me right now as I put down my cat today and I am feeling down these days. I don’t feel very close to God recently and I’ve struggled with that too #christian #openchristian #episcopal

the community of r/openchristian is one of the nicest ones on reddit (and probably the internet in general), but at the same time you'll also see a lot of disturbing shit over there mainly because of people's experiences with religious trauma

Then, they'll go 'aha but... Romans and Corinthians'. However, they're relying on translations that can easily be twisted to mean what they'd like it to mean, e.g. for 'homosexual' the original uses the words 'malakoi' / 'arsenokoitai'.

This is a good explanation:

this was what got me into the hellaverse in the first place btw

i'm pretty grateful to r/OpenChristian for introducing me to a franchise i can relate to as a deconstructing pansexual catholic
a post by me on r/OpenChristian: "Do you know any media that does this" "have any of you heard or seen of any media that advocates christianity at its heart while satirizing the fundamentalist/hardline/dogmatic cultures masquerading as christianity? a lot of media i read and see that satirize christianity seem to also have anti-religious views, and i'm an advocate of pluralism rather than irreligion one that i may know might be naked pastor's art, but outside of that, i don't know others that may do such" a reply: "Hear me out on this one: Hazbin Hotel. If you don't know the setting is the pop-culture version of Hell, and the main character is the daughter of Lucifer who runs a hotel for sinners so that they can be redeemed of their sins and go to heaven. It isn't as overt as some anti-church satire, but it's pretty easy to see the antagonists (exorcist angels) as the church that casts aside sinners as lost causes that deserve suffering. And the hotel is what a church is supposed to be: one that takes in anyone that comes to their door, accepts them for who they are, and helps them grow into better people instead of passing judgement." another reply: "Hazbin Hotel can certainly be viewed this way. It is set in a version of Hell that seems largely inspired by Dante, the daughter of Lucifer is the main character and hero. So of course many Christians are highly opposed to it. But ... its message is, at its heart, pretty Christian. It's all about sinners trying to redeem themselves so they can get into Heaven! There is some pointed, though not explicit, criticism of the established Christian Church, but its clear that it endorses the central message of Christianity (not in so many words as to be explicit that it's talking about Christianity specifically, but ... well, it's not a great leap of logic)." my reply to the reply: "so far watched the first two episodes and i'm finding it interesting"
