What are Open Science Indicators (OSIs)? Open Science Indicators are a tool developed by PLOS in collaboration with DataSeer to measure trends in open science practice across published research. What indicators are measured in the OSI dashboard prototype? The dashboard measures five open science practices associated with published open access research articles: Research data sharing Code sharing Preprint posting Protocol sharing Study registration What knowledge have we gained from OSIs so far? They reveal how, when, and where open practices happen, giving clearer context for trends and helping shape better tools and policies. What do OSIs tell us about research impact? They show the openness behind research, the practices that support transparency, reuse, and broader reach.
