On this day in 1887, a Czech Jewish man was born. He owned the optical firm Haas & Co. Arrested by the Gestapo, he and his wife were deported 7 May 1942 to Theresienstadt, then 9 May to Sobibór, where they were murdered. His name was Hugo Haas.
