This apparently touched a nerve, so I guess I need to qualify that building an entire national strategy around one city's primary winner and going on TV to actively denounce a primary winner from your own party are not the only two options. It's easy to do neither, and to pick something in between.
The Democratic Party's approval ratings are terrible, a young Democratic politician solidly wins a primary in the country's biggest city by generating enthusiasm and high turnout, and Democratic leaders think the move is to publicly distance themselves, even denounce him, do I have that right?
