Like their spin counterparts, orbital currents could be useful for transmitting information in so-called orbitronic devices, but these currents were thought to struggle to cross material interfaces. New research has dispelled that expectation.

By manipulating this OAM( orbital angular momentum), it is in principle possible to generate large magnetizations with very small electric currents

It is used to make a more effective memory device!
