Mark Weston of Oreston, a suburb of Plymouth, is born intersex until a series of operations in 1936. ‘I was born and reared in Oreston,’ he tells a newspaper in the US. ‘I think without undue vanity, I showed pluck by continuing to live here, where everybody knows my story.'

I rather like the rendering of the Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Oreston 50mm f1.9. It's not super sharp, but sharp enough for #streetphotography. #photography 📷 #vintagelens #Shanghai #China #街头摄影

Meyer Optik Görlitz Oreston 1.8/50mm, Feb. 25, 2025
Collage of nine square photographs arranged in a 3x3 grid, featuring shots of natural elements in a muted, wintery atmosphere. The tones are predominantly cool with shades of gray, brown, and blue. The subjects include dried plants, tree bark, branches, fungi, and grasses, captured in soft daylight.

A comparison between a 1966 Oreston 50mm ƒ/1.8 and a 1977 MC Pentacon Electric 50mm ƒ/1.8.

They’re nearly identical lenses, but the single-coated Oreston produces nice indigo–purple flares!
