Working on the next chapter of “Will-o’-the-Wisp” between laundry loads & grading anatomy diagram assignments 🙎🏽‍♀️🐵👽🐱

We need better emojis for Sasquatches and mountain lions.

"Orick Mending Bees." An early drawing of Orick, back in 2020 when I was still figuring out the look of the character.

Orick, a sasquatch, sits hunched over at a wooden table, holding a magnifying glass and an eye dropper filled with honey. On the table in front of him is a pair of tweezers, a spool of thread and a needle, a jar of honey, and 5 bees resting on tiny pillows. Other bees are flying around him. In the background, against the wall, is a wooden bee hive. The foreground is filled with white flowers.

Hi! My comic, “Orick & Argyle,” is about a Sasquatch and an extraterrestrial who commit acts of civil disobedience in defense of nature. They’re often joined by human person Ursula and mountain lion person Leona. Comics at orickandargyle.com and you can support me at www.patreon.com/orickandargyle
Comic characters Orick, a Sasquatch, and Argyle, an extraterrestrial, are walking on a sidewalk past a shop window in their human disguises. Their reflections in the window reveal their true selves. Comic characters Ursula, the human, Orick, the Sasquatch, and Argyle, the extraterrestrial, sit outside around a campfire at dusk. Argyle’s hot dog caught on file. In the distance behind Argyle is the trailer Ursula lives in. Comic characters Orick, a Sasquatch, Argyle, an extraterrestrial, and Leona, a mountain lion, are relaxing in Orick’s cave. Orick is reading in his chair, Argyle is on the floor watching The X-Files on his iPad, and Leona is napping in front of the fire. In the background is a bookshelf and a staircase, and above the fireplace hangs a painting of one of Orick’s Sasquatch ancestors.

That time Ursula got a glimpse inside Argyle’s storage unit.

In the first panel, Argyle, a grey alien, is seen walking into his massive storage unit. In the foreground, Ursula stands in amazement, stunned by the room’s size. Hanging from the ceiling above them is Amelia Earhart’a missing airplane. In the second panel, Ursula says, “Whoa, Argyle, what all do you have in here?!” Argyle says, “Just stuff I’ve collected over the years” as he roots around in a wooden crate. Behind Ursula is the Ark of the Covenant from the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Here's a page and some detail shots of an Orick & Argyle comic from last summer. I asked one of my friends for reference photos of her daughter's bedroom. That... unicorn dog(?)... was a detail I knew I needed to include the moment I saw it!

Comic characters Orick, Ursula, Argyle and Leona are walking through a forest. Ursula is telling the others about a memory of a wood devil lurking outside her bedroom window when she was a child. She had always dismissed the memory as a nightmare, but after seeing wood devils as an adult, she is wondering if her childhood memory is a recollection of a real event. Her story is illustrated in a full-color flashback scene taking up two-thirds of the page. A close-up of the page, showing Ursula as a child, cowering under her covers in her bedroom while a wood devil watches her from outside her window. Another close-up of the page, showing the wood devil looking in the window. Another close-up of Ursula's bedroom.
