I got a fixie today and rode it around a little. It’s an old Peugeot with a Deda stem, narrow flat bars with wooden grips(!!), Sugino messenger cranks, Origin8 chainring, 42/15 gearing, flip-flop hub, and a front brake. Took it for a short ride and it’s a lot to get used to! I welcome tips!

I built my Wednesday wheels with a dogshit origin8 hub and it lasted less than 6 mo before needing a full rebuild, which isn't easy because it's not super repairable. A dtswiss 350 is on the upgrade list. Tough lesson learned.

I’m now wanting to put a rigid fork on my 2001 26” mountain bike, but there really isn’t much to choose from. Surly or Origin8 are pretty much it for steel. I bought the Origin8 fork because it’s a better fit for the bikes geometry, but it looks cheap with the IS-style brake mounts.

....hand positions via Surly Moloko + Origin8 risers. Been pondering being one of those weirdos who adds a lower dropbar underneath my Moloko's to help with some back posturing and an additional hand position to help with very minor but pervasive hand cramps on longer trips.
