One of the things liberals accuse former Soviet citizens of having "Ostalgia" for is the Soviet canteen system.
Nationalize chipotle type restaurants and turn them into Soviet style workers canteens. Everyone deserves a cooked lunch. Socialize cooking labor !

Ostalgia is fairly common now especially in some of the more depopulated areas of the Zone, but back in the day, the DDR only existed because the borders kept people in and the Soviet Union propped it up. From my limited experience, the former Czechoslovakia was a happier place than the DDR.

Hoyer si otázku dedičstva NDR v súvislosti s nárastom AfD nekladie vôbec. Jej zámerom je, naopak, „vrátiť“ NDR do nemeckých dejín, odkiaľ ju podľa nej vypudili ich „víťazi“, teda politický, ekonomický a intelektuálny establišment niekdajšieho západného a neskôr zjednoteného Nemecka.

Hoyer si otázku dedičstva NDR v súvislosti s nárastom AfD nekladie vôbec. Jej zámerom je, naopak, „vrátiť“ NDR do nemeckých dejín, odkiaľ ju podľa nej vypudili ich „víťazi“, teda politický, ekonomický a intelektuálny establišment niekdajšieho západného a neskôr zjednoteného Nemecka.

if youre going to be nostalgic for when you were little, be nostalgic for the right things. not brand names. not retailers. for crunching snow under your boots while pulling a sled uphill. for riding a bike the first time. or playing with a model train. or finger-painting. feeding a goat at the zoo.
