otherhearted feels like a term ppl enforce because ur not "otherkin enough" and like literally what is the point of requiring everyone to make that distinction? i really struggle to see how it helps anyone more than it takes community away from those who need it

i dont really understand how thats comparable but regardless yeah my whole point is that ppl are being told "you're not this enough, so you're this" like i'm not saying otherhearted is a bad term i'm just saying it's being enforced in a way similar way to how transmedicalists talk about shit

Sorry that happened to you&. It does sound like those places were just being kind of shitty and grilly, tbh. Otherhearted is a term that doesn't come from the otherkin community, so maybe that's where some of the friction was at? Idk. Most ppl are fine with good-faith labels ime.

Otherhearted is just a different term with a different definition and a different history. Some people can't make that distinction and that's fine, but for some of us it DOES exist very strongly and that's cool too (like for me, Pokemon is a hearthome and I'm hearted with red-furred canines.)

it all depends on their experiences and how they decide to look at it. If they see themself as the character it'd be fictionkin, if they just have a deep connection with them it'd be otherhearted, or maybe it could just be a character they can relate a lot to without wanting to label it.
