I was experiencing vertigo and asked if it was otolithiasis (inner ear) and she basically informed me that I was insane. I went to specialized physical therapy and the MD/PhD did a couple of quick tests, verified that I was correct and performed a maneuver to correct the problem. Trust yourself!

She didn't want to bother to test for positional nystagmus, which takes all of 30 seconds. Physicians seem to be intimidated by vertigo (of any etiology) and often just refer to neurology as a default. I have a wonderful neurologist but when I mentioned otolithiasis the poor baby ordered an MRI!

Exactly what he performed! It's a dicey maneuver for me as I've had extensive cervical fusion and I require support for adequate completion but most folks can do it on their own. It is considered the safest of the many procedures for posterior canal otolithiasis. The result is miraculous!
