A near shot of a jumble of LED “neon” tubes and willow structures. The tubes are all lit in a range of colours, but the space is otherwise dark. Careful study would discern that there are 6 stars hanging close to each other.

Experiments in combining 3D printing and willow

A point formed from four sticks of brown, steamed willow cable-tied to a black plastic form. The small plastic shape clearly shows layers from 3D printing and is sort of a truncated cone with grooves and holes sliced into it to accommodate the sticks and cable ties. In the background can be seen another blurry point standing on the ugly blue carpet. Bonus corner of a sack of kiln-dried sand in frame too.

A very detailed red and black ladybird with an array of terrifying teeth sitting on my palm. A fantastic slim dragonfly using a blue straw as a body, made by a small child who is holding it up out of shot. A pink and purple spotty bug with yellow antennae hanging on a string from a stick. The maker’s tiny shoes just in shot. A round pink stag beetle with hearts on its body and impressive horns. Also hanging from a string.

A vaguely bug like cardboard thing hanging from a piece of string tied to a leaning tree. There’s a lot of weeds behind. The bug has orange wings and legs, and a yellow body. Some crude scrawling on it with a black marker completes the half-arsed effect. A significantly more terrifying pink and blue bug attached to an A Frame advertising the event. It has spotty wings and a stripey tail. The face drawn on it was a mistake in retrospect.

Just been doing kite-design workshops with two classes of 9/10 year olds locally – equal parts exhausting and brilliant, as ever. Some of the designs are incredibly sophisticated.

A pile of light blue sheets of paper lying on the workbench in the studio. They have kite shapes drawn on them in pencil and then are decorated with pieces of cut- or torn-out coloured paper. There are two particular images featured, one shows an ice-cream cone at the bottom, white clouds, a yellow sun and the word "ENJOY!". The other is a more abstract arrangement that fills the kite shape with blue, pink, green and brown overlapping polygons. The picture might be a tree with light pink blossom against a sky and grass, with a sun in one corner. Perhaps the darker pink around the trunk is flowering bushes?

Oh yay! New problem to deal with: we've gone from about 500 DNS queries a day on the #outputarts domain earlier in the year to an average of about 4000 per day over the last couple of months, and an extraordinary 24,000 queries in one day last week

A tangled mass of black cables lie in a heap on the floor connected to multiple ABS boxes containing PCBs. The boxes are half buried within the mess and half piled on top. There are about half a dozen boxes clearly visible, but I can tell you that there's another 15 hidden somewhere underneath. There's also about 120m of cable. One of the trestles of the workbench is visible behind the chaos, along with the edge of the worktop and a stack of boxes under the table. There's also a small black office wheely-chair that has been stolen from the library's study room, and you'll be delighted to see the return of the blue bin.

A mass of white plastic long triangles and small diamonds leans up against one of the shelving units in the studio. The pile is arranged into bunches of similar pieces of different size, with the larger pieces in the back and smaller ones heaped in front. Stacked against each other, the arrangement has a pleasing, snowy-mountain-range sort of vibe going on. Also, the sun through a window sharply picks out one corner of the pile. The usually ugly studio carpet looks almost sea-like. A close-up view of the, now pretty trashed trestle tabletop. It's once, mostly pristine white surface is scored by hundreds of cutting marks that expose the brown MDF below. The marks are mostly horizontal –  parallel to the long edge of the table – but a few are diagonal across these and the result forms a sort of scratchy, half-visible capital A.

A mostly white tabletop with a steel ruler, heavy metal cutting guide and a Stanley knife with some tape on the handle with the word “SHARP” written on it (this is a vain attempt to remind me to use the other knife for cutting up boxes and shit). The tabletop already shows a series of long cut marks across the surface. There’s an odd shadow on the table, which is actually where I was spraying boxes black on a piece of cardboard and hadn’t quite realised how much the spray was spreading onto the table…

In the studio, a pair of wooden trestle legs supports a large white tabletop that, oddly, has a rectangular nick out of the near corner. On it are scattered tools. Underneath is piles of boxes. In the background, one of the recent giant Xmas baubles is lit along with strips of brightly lit and coloured LEDs hanging from the edge of my bench. Bonus content: the red mini fridge and microwave are visible along with a significant amount of shit piled up against the wall and shelves. You’ll also be pleased to hear that the blue bin makes an appearance.
