Is it possible Michael Laws kills the overhang strategy.

Something about trades pants and diaper overhang gets me hot

A small aside Opportunity is likely to cop a significant backlash if it defines largest party by the number of seats won not vote share, if overhang wildly impacts who wins (out of step with how NZ voted proportionately)

Q’s comment ‘ it’s in the rules’ (re overhang) does overlook the spirit of MMP

Yep
Thus little overhang

Chances for upsets is what im saying, and it would gut their overhang too.

No overhang calculation because we don't do electorate polling well so this could all be bull puckey

She split my party vote till I overhang, is this anything
October 30, 2026 at 11:41 PM
As to the why I think it’s just a clearing of a market overhang - I expect the Santoli’s of the world to talk about it in those types of terms.

i love seeing people get so fat that they can't reach the bottom of their overhang anymore 👀💦

The fewer electorates the Nats win the less chance of an overhang, so I gave Labour my candidate vote in the hope he beats our current Nat MP

There has never been any evidence that Vote-Splitter Overhang Doom was happening.

I need to be big enough to concuss someone by dropping my overhang on them.

"The potential failure of the Mowbray campaign to instigate widespread vote-splitting... sets up National for a nightmare scenario: Where it loses its top talent because it earns no list seats, ...at the same time achieving an overhang that is too small to hand it the reins of power." 🙏🙏🙏 #nzpol

(Curia is generally very good on all parties *except* the Greens, which it moderately undercounts. Also seems to be the least bullish on OPP. So I think the non-overhang numbers in fact show the non-govt parties getting a majority, but the overhang picture complicates that significantly)

An overhang election could be terrible for our democracy

I looove a shortstack. Let me put my belly overhang on your head
October 29, 2026 at 3:23 PM
Big belly littles: is it more comfortable to wear your diaper over your belly or under your overhang?

My love handles always push my diaper down, so I always need to wear over my belly

personal favorite ways to tell that you're getting REALLY fat (besides just stepping on a scale):
- can't reach bottom of overhang
- belly touches steering wheel while driving
- can't fit through doorways without turning to the side first
- chin/neck fat gets in the way when looking downwards

Looking at the seat calculator and I don’t want be a buzz kill but I don’t see how the left wins. Even if the Nats drop 3 electorates and Labour wins the party vote by a couple of points and TPM creates an overhang on the left the overhang on the right gets them home. Unless I’m missing something?
November 3, 2026 at 4:12 AM
Did anyone ask Opportunity yet who they will negotiate with first if Labour wins the party vote but National gets more seats anyway due to the overhang campaign?
November 1, 2026 at 6:55 PM
In Germany where the system came from, they compensated for overhang by adding from the list to restore proportionality. Parliament got too big. Now the electorate MPs with the lowest votes do not get to take their seats to eliminate overhang.
