Totally. Even the definitions of overinclusion/underinclusion are heavily dependent on clear language, so this is always a bit precarious.

And so we stand torn between the need to notify the community of the presence of dangerous offenders, and awareness of the fact that too many offenders have been improperly swept into the mix. Let's assume for the moment that Connecticut Department of Public Safety offered an accurate impression of registries at the launch of the global era of dissemination of information —that a disclaimer on the website was sufficient to offset any misconceptions regarding the relative danger of an individual post. Can it be argued convincingly that a disclaimer continues to afford the registrant sufficient protection, especially in light of the cascading and devastating consequences that flow from notification statutes? One need only consider the civil commitment case law by way of analogy. There, the deprivation of liberty in the form of a civil commitment has been upheld as constitutional, in large measure due to the significant procedural safeguards in place in making the civil commitment determination!" In the landmark case Kansas v. Hendricks, the Supreme Court upheld a Kansas law that allowed the civil commitment of those who had been deemed sexually violent predators and who had been convicted of sexually violent offenses or, if not convicted, had been charged of such offenses but either acquitted or found unable to stand trial because of mental disease or defectP' In so concluding, the Court emphasized that a prior conviction alone is insufficient to trigger civil commitment proceedings.' In fact, Justice Stevens underscored this key point in his dissent in Smith v. Doe when he stated, "While one might disagree in other respects with Hendricks, it is clear that a conviction standing alone did not make anyone eligible for the burden imposed by that statute."'"x Recasting the model of notification is the first step. Overinclusion— the Connecticut model —while intended to convey information that is not discriminatory among sex offenders, is especially problematic for its lack of discrimination. We might think the effect of Trump's antisemitism policies is an overinclusion problem -- seeing "too much". But, drawing on feminist work on "testimonial smothering", I argue that we're likely to see Jews self-censor their instincts on antisemitism, to avoid triggering Trump's draconian responses.

We know #P3 increases during exclusion after inclusion, but what if we flip it? We tested #overinclusion after #exclusion #P3 stayed stable, but #P2 and self-reports of emotion & belonging shifted.
Inclusion ≠ just the flip side of exclusion.

The corner I hang around near emphasizes kindness and understanding, and mocks a lot of the NRxy/EA/Lesswrongculty stuff that is being painted as Core Tpot Stuff. TLDR: It's too big and disorganized to paint as One Thing, imo, but there's a failure mode of overinclusion that 2/3

People in most niches charge exponentially more for courses with significantly less content/value than I am here today, but I really struggle to ask for money for stuff. I'm not resisting my ADHD-overinclusion tendencies and trying to maximize every possible thing you could get
