It may not exactly be the same, but I still wouldn't want to fall into the canal! There are a lot of big rig trucks that cross the overpasses too and you can feel the shake from them. 😱

My dad has been watching a TV program about bridges. One episode was about bridges that collapse due to poor construction and maintenance. That is scary!

Wildlife overpasses/underpasses should never be an afterthought. They should be required by law. Thankfully we’re seeing more of these, although I suspect the motivation is less about the animals and more about injury to humans and property damage caused by collisions.
Colorado is showing how infrastructure can work with nature. 🦌 CDOT’s I-25 South Gap wildlife system, 5 underpasses and 14 miles of fencing, has reduced wildlife-vehicle collisions by 91%. The new Greenland Wildlife Overpass could reconnect herds divided by the interstate.

Once more, they are behaving that way because your leaders made it acceptable and even rewarding it by giving the worst of the worst jobs in ICE. Yay! Those are great statistics (and the footage is fun, too). I've seen wildlife overpasses but this is the first underpass I've seen. I wonder what the difference is in cost/use by animals. We need more of these!

Other states have built overpasses with trails over the highway. Those are successful but I think an underpass might be a better idea. It makes a more natural path close to the trails animals have used for generations instead of making them go up on a new structure where they can still see traffic.
