Oh deer. Lynxes are great against certain overpopulations!

out local communities, how they overpopulated specific areas with elephants (yes, locally there are elephant overpopulations), as well as extensive agriculture. Africans knew how to manage elephants, they aren’t stupid.

Every year, nearly 31 million people in the U.S. are bitten by a tick. Tick-related illnesses like Lyme disease are on the rise, a trend experts attribute to climate change, human expansion into forested areas and overpopulations of deer.

Did you know?
White-tailed eagles are one of nature's answers to regulating overpopulations of waterbirds, like cormorants. They also don't shy away from scavenging on carrion. Thankfully, their numbers are steadily recovering.

Quick reminder how mass #extinction works.

Most species on Earth face habitats and populations that are far too small.

A few species dominate and face #overpopulations that destroy the last dwindling resources.

Example: The UK is the only country without wolves and lynx in Europe. What do you call an ecosystem without predators? How can you "protect" nature in nature reserves if there are no natural predators to manage overpopulations without weakening the gene pool?

It's all negotiable? Close enough?

people who center their politics around overpopulations are either:
acting out personal feelings of depression in uncomfortable ways or have a specific list of which groups there are too many of, you know the ones.

Listen if they knew *what damage* overpopulations of deer do to forests I'm a lot more okay with a controlled thinning of the population. Especially since the same people who complain about deer hunting consider wolves evil for... eating? Yeah I haven't heard a good argument against deer season.

Protecting saplings terminal buds from #deer herbivory is a crucial management decision, particularly when confronted to herbivore overpopulations. #Kaernten

That's apparently how you deal with overpopulations of creatures that aren't "true to type". RFK, Jr. thinks that it's time to "thin the herd". If you can't deport them you've got to remove any disease-killing artificial interventions, pollute their air, water, and food & let them fall like dominos.

I couldn't agree more. They literally want to slaughter all predators and remove wild horses so that they can graze their cattle on public lands at taxpayer expense and have all the deer and elk to themselves. Despite there being clear evidence of ungulate overpopulations from human 'management.'

I'm personally not here for followers, likes and views. This is about truth and quality first, not quantity. It's better to reach one person with with the truth, than millions with meaningless blabla. E.g. I could not address human, cat and dog overpopulations if I wanted reach.

I volunteered at animal shelters. My focus was stray #cats in the twilight zone and "problem dogs". I adopted a cat who changed me for the better. Ask me why I speak up regarding cat #overpopulations if I loved cats?

1,000,000,000 house cats
40,000 big cats like lions or tigers

They even use media to portrays themselves as saints(often by misusing words like "antisemitism" to stiffles criticisms they took and blaming starving africans for overpopulations as well muslims for terrorism)

A cascading series of events that affects every level of the ecosystem. The elk move, the browse has more time to improve and seeds are spread more widely as smaller critters and birds benefit. The herd is culled but so are much smaller critters reducing overpopulations. Everything balances better.

yes but nature doesn't care about our concerns. It just does. Fires, floods, lava, overpopulations of flora & fauna that wax & wane with natural cycles are for nature. For those destructions that we have a hand in, shame on us. We will suffer but the planet will endure long after we are gone...

Due to human overpopulations eating meat, there are more animals on Earth than ever before. Most are livestock animals and most of these are tortured from birth till death. They can't move around, can't see daylight, sleep in their poop and get raped or castrated/mutilated. #PeakTorture #PeakFear

YES. Hunting for food is one thing but NO on trophies.

MAYBE. Maybe if there was a problem with overpopulations and a need for culling, but I HIGHLY doubt that was the case here.

Good short discussion about coyotes and deer in the Northeast. tl;dr - coyotes aren't an apex predator that can control whitetail deer populations. Unfortunately.

If you look past 15 years ago or so, there were tons of fretting articles about and nearly every dystopian scifi featured overpopulations as an existential problem. Turns out, they weren’t worried about overpopulation of *white* people.

Oof that sucks so much.
It's not a wonder we have overpopulations when simple sterilizations cost $400-$700. :/
It's just sad.

Haha woo! I'm not the only one. XD

I put in a TON of hours into that game. But yea I wouldn’t judge you. Though as a fun fact, the Taar were actually made as a way to prevent item clutter and remove overpopulations of slimes. Sort of a “canonical” way to reset the areas to reduce processing power.

These people literally believe in CULLING the population. I’m not being hyperbolic. They are into EUGENICS.

They WANT people to DIE from measles, salmonella, hurricanes, cancer, miscarriage, starvation (please add).

They ARE out to KILL US.

We CANNOT keep WAITING for those who swore an oath!
