PeaZip 10.7 has been released today for this open-source, cross-platform, and free file archiver utility based on 7-Zip / p7zip archiver, Zstandard, FreeArc, and other open-source file compression tools. Highlights of PeaZip 10.7 include a new image viewer component (File manager > View images) that lets users view images and preview images inside archives, supporting features like zoom, immersive mode, rename, delete, and basic navigation, along with support for displaying image thumbnails in the file manager on all platforms. This release also improves detection and usage of the **ClamAV** open-source antivirus engine, improves the dynamic virtual mode and adds a Quick Look option to the “Open with” menu on macOS, adds support for previewing items in Zpaq archives, and improves browsing of some archive types like .pkg. On top of that, PeaZip 10.7 adds an option to explore the path of archive previews with the system’s browser, improves the Text preview feature with support for searching, counting lines/words/chars, changing text encoding, and word wrapping, and updates the Line custom theme. Among other changes, PeaZip 10.7 introduces an option in the Advanced tab of the extraction screen to keep files if extraction is not successful for the Zstd backend, improves reporting of compression levels for Brotli and Zpaq, improves naming of units and items, and improves readability and maintainability of the source code. Last but not least, the Functions menu has been improved with a more comprehensive selection of core functions of the application, listed alphabetically to be easily discovered by users. The crypto/hash library units have also been updated to apply a pure Pascal implementation of algorithms for any arbitrary non-x86/x86_64 architecture. PeaZip 10.8 has been released today for this open-source, cross-platform, and free file archiver utility based on 7-Zip / p7zip archiver, Zstandard, FreeArc, and other open-source file compression tools. Coming one and a half months after **PeaZip 10.7** , the PeaZip 10.8 release overhauls the previewing of items inside archives by adding the ability to launch the built-in image viewer within archive types supported through the ARC, BCM, Brotli, and Zstandard backends. Previously, this only worked for 7z/p7zip archives. Moreover, the users can now access the Context menu > Preview and Context menu > File tools submenus within the aforementioned archive types. Also, the image viewer’s window will now automatically snap to the on-screen image size when leaving full-screen mode. PeaZip 10.8 also introduces new custom themes, named line-dark and tux-alt-dark, adds analysis of the header’s “magic bytes” when opening archives, to gather further information about the file, which is displayed in the app’s title bar alongside other archive’s stats. Also new in this release is an option to keep a log of commands (archive, extract, test, list…) generated by the scripting engine, a `-rv` Recovery Volumes option for multipart RAR archives, an option to hide the task progress window for small workloads, and the ability to set the task progress window to compact mode. Last but not least, PeaZip 10.8 updates the compression presets, improves atomic extraction of compressed TAR archives, adds an option to internally pass a single command line or a list of parameters, expands the language selection menu, and updates the backends to Pea 1.28 and Brotli 1.2.0.
