"New ideas? Aww yeah, how about some Pan-African writers, East Asian sci-fi movies, and Southeast Asian hip-hop?"

"No can do, this is all we got." <clerk points to display rack filled entirely with cheaply-made Confederate memorabilia>
it's always odd when "you should expose yourself to more diverse ideas" always means a certain kind of conservatism instead of like, Indigenous art, new fusion foods, math paradoxes, or the Dvorak keyboard layout

in addition to pan Asian supermarkets, there are no taquerias down in hell
Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

On this day in 1982, Vincent Chin was brutally beaten to death in a racially motivated attack. His shocking and tragic murder unified our community and sparked one of the first national pan-Asian civil rights movements.

As we honor his life, let us continue to unite to end anti-Asian hate.

More people interested in weird caricatures of pan-East-Asian stories, rather than engaging in piles of East Asian creative work that struggles getting translated, published and popularised outside target market.
