This dragonfly is a Wandering Glider (Pantala flavescens). It was preening its tarsus while resting on a branch.

Meanwhile, on Pantala, the "talented dragons" she has collected live a very different life. With more resources, the hives have expanded. With many years, and subtle manipulation, most dragons know not the reality of how this came to be. 2/3

I think for the WOF one I would set it on Pantala and have Jayce be a hivewing and Viktor be a flame silk because something about that is just kind of fitting. There's also some inherent drama to the fact most hivewings believe flame silk is a disease. The context just fits them there

All the Books in the Incredible Wings of Fire Series
Tui T. Sutherland’s immensely popular Wings of Fire book series spans multiple arcs, companion novels, and novellas that follow intelligent dragons navigating complex societies, institutional corruption, and systemic conflict. Across distinct continents like Pyrrhia and Pantala, the narratives shift from prophetic quests for queenship to broader examinations of prejudice, propaganda, and cross-tribal peace. The books utilize rotating point-of-view characters—each bringing unique perspectives, magical abilities, or marginalized backgrounds—to challenge traditional structures and redefine heroism. Alongside the primary novels, supplementary Legends and Winglets expand the world by exploring historical tragedies and background perspectives, including human "scavengers." Ultimately, the franchise evolves from a straightforward fantasy adventure into a comprehensive exploration of morality, institutional power, and the foundational requirements for coexistence among diverse populations.

Another 🐉🪰: This time, a female globe skimmer (Pantala flavescens). These dragonflies can be found in large swarms here in 🇯🇵.
Its brain is smaller than that of S. albardae, lacks innervation of the ocelli and most of the lobula, but shows broad arborizations of the large lamina. #FluorescenceFriday

Biodiversity can be subtle. These dragonflies look fairly similar, but upon taking a closer look they are different species! The first is a Wandering Glider (Pantala flavescens) and the second is a Variegated Meadowhawk (Sympetrum corruptum). Happy Biodiversity Week! #dragonfly #biodiversity #nature

Les empreses de xàrter usen el pantalà del CENF perquè la rampa de la Savina està inutilitzable.
El Consell recorda que la infraestructura que fan servir ara no és un punt d'embarcament de clients.

Finished Wings of Fire Book 11, it’s been years since I picked up reading it. Really love the new continent of Pantala, I wasn’t too sure how to feel about the insect-like dragons or how “modern” and relevant their society is but after a certain point it just hooked me in a way WoF hasn’t before.

they're given hexadecimal codes based on make, component, and jurisdiction similar to MAC addresses or IPV6 addresses, but informally they're named after the binomial (genus-species) taxa of various birds, plants, and insects (e.g. "Pantala flavescens").
