If I'm a native Pashto speaker who got fired by the US for no reason, when they ask me back, I'm getting myself a FAT ASS raise.

VA’s senator should be a woman who’s job titles include cultural attaché and who casually drops facts about the concrete foundation at Natanz and is fluent in Pashto, no she’s not cia why do you ask

"You cannot surge fluency in Pashto. You cannot improvise 20 years of diplomacy."

America spent 80 years building diplomatic power; we’re dismantling it in months. Firing 1,300+ experts isn't reform, it's demolition.

Jonah Goldberg is an unserious dipshit who wouldn’t know newsroom best practices if they bit him on the ass. He’s spent his entire life on wingnut welfare and he has as much authority to talk about rigorous reporting as I do to teach Pashto
"I think Bari Weiss deserves the benefit of the doubt."

I suppose at least for Venezuela we aren't as short on Spanish speakers as we were for Pashto.

Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein all speak German. It is the language of one of the world’s foremost engineering and industrial powers.

If languages followed American military outcomes, parts of the US world would now be speaking Vietnamese, Pashto, or Arabic.

A source familiar tells me that the USAGM is calling back Voice of America Persian network's full-time employees after war broke out in the region. Kari Lake had slashed the workforce to just 2 Farsi speakers.

They're also bringing back the Dari and Pashto staff -- a total of roughly 75 staffers.

At a public high school graduation where the student welcome is in Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Yoruba, Swahili, Rohingya, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English.

This is an unambiguous good thing.

We are a pluralistic, multiracial democracy. It makes us stronger.
