Pec and Burl Wines A Tale of Two Dudes 2021, Paso Robles, California Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of black currants, blackberries, cooked cherries, figs, raisins, chocolates, cedar, licorice, coffee, cola, mediterranean spices, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, herbs and black pepper.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with black plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, spices, herbs, cola, light earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache based blend from Paso Robles. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant, nicely balanced and very complex, especially on the nose. Smooth and and powerful.

The nose feels like a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, which is so interesting.

Good right out of the bottle and better with some air time, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years.

I had this vintage over a year ago, and it is drinking even better now.

A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with my charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 75% Grenache, 18% Mourvedre and 7% Syrah. Aged in (40% new) Slovenian Oak barrels for 18 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

15.8% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$65.

Ghost Cellars Proprietary Red 2018, Paso Robles, California

Dark ruby in color with medium plus intensity and a wide reddish rim.

Fresh cherries on the nose with sweet raspberries, black plums, light wood, tobacco leaf, milk chocolates, herbs, spices and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with plums, cooked cherries, light oak, tobacco leaf, light earth, bitter herbs, spices, dark chocolates, peppercorn and cloves.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Paso Robles is still drinking very nicely. Elegant and still fruity. Nicely balanced and tangy.

At this point it feels like a Right Bank Bordeaux with a touch of California. Still feels fresh and engaging, and I loved the low alcohol level here.

I had this vintage 5 years ago, and it is drinking much better now. Still drinking very fresh, and I could have waited even longer, but you never know until you open it. Unfortunately, it is my last bottle.

Easy drinking and good right out of the bottle. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 2% Malbec. A small production of only 5,000 bottles.

12.9% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$50.

Light exhibit at Sensorio in Paso Robles, California. The hills are covered with thousands of solar-powered lights that shift in colors.

It is just after dusk and the thousands of colored lights are illuminated. They cover the rolling hills with many different colors, giving the effect of patches of glowing wildflowers. The golfball sized lights are on a stem, so if it is breezy, they will sway with the breeze. They are placed close together to maximize the color and effect. Not seen at night are the scattered small solar panels placed throughout the exhibit. There are paths through the light, so visitors can walk through the fields. Sensorio has added other light exhibits as well, but this is my favorite. Located in Paso Robles, California as a permanent display.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity, smooth and elegant.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, currants, oak, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, chocolates and red chili pepper.

Nice finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Paso Robles. Complex and interesting, fruit forward and spicy.

I had the 2023 vintage recently, and it was drinking even better.

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Mourvedre. A tiny production of only 900 bottles.

Saxum Vineyards, Booker Vineyards, 2008 and 2009. They’ve peaked yet still drink beautifully. The ‘08 has more fruit and nuance remaining, making it the clearer winner. #saxumvineyards #bookervineyard #pasorobleswine #pasorobles #californiawine

You've heard of #PasoRobles. But have you discovered #TempletonGap?
This distinctive area within Paso Robles is shaped by cool Pacific air that funnels inland through the gap, creating a unique climate for growing grapes.

Come by, grab a glass you may not have tried before.
