Indiana Jones was meant to be a pastiche of the genre! It was never meant to be the entire genre!

Their pastiche flavour was certainly an acquired taste

The silver lining of the anxiety I'm feeling about the Mississippi Senate race is learning the diverse pastiche of the state's county names.

Friends, I come bringing horrible news on this otherwise pleasant day. As you know, I am in the midst of writing a novel, and as you know, I am committed to pastiche and intertextuality, and as you know, I am cursed with vision. And so, for the sake of art, I am going to read Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Happy ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY to "Piss (A Love Song)" otherwise known as my favorite song from Hazbin Hotel.

A perfectly bombastic pastiche of one of my favorite composers (Jim Steinman) in the service of one of my favorite Hellaverse ships (Cherrisnake). I LOVE PISS!!! 💪🍒🐍❤️‍🔥

Listening to this rare recording of Alan Moore's old band, The Emperors of Ice Cream, performing "Mr. A" -- Moore's ode to comics legend Steve Ditko, set to a musical pastiche of the Velvet Underground

"🎶He had one room above a thrift store / He had a trunk of books by Ayn Rand..."

Someone was a dork in my mentions and now I have a gang of people telling fascinating stories of system failures and making me pastiche Shakespeare.

(Don’t pester the dork; you need a grain of sand to make a pearl)

Wait, is Jack Reacher just modern Conan? (Howard original flavor; not pastiche.)
November 2, 2026 at 11:54 PM
also I gotta say "a pastiche for a more connected world" is the perfect phrasing and I could probably have saved an entire post if I'd come up with that.

No more Indiana Jones! Do a different pastiche! Let the past die!

My minor beef with Buffy (I also have major ones such as the villain arc of s7) is that they made Giles sing a sad ballad in the musical episode. I would've liked a once more with feeling song with a little more bite. Perhaps something in a Led Zeppelin's Kashmir pastiche territory.
