En De re coquinaria (atribuido a Apicio) hay un par de recetas que se pueden hacer con chirivía o con zanahoria (blanca o morada), ya que llamaban "pastinaca" a ambas.

The tail of a Common Stingray (Dasyatis pastinaca) coplete with two barbed spines. Found decomposing on the shore - these fish are rare in Irish waters, and this is the first time I've seen one dead or alive!

Someone on my #allotment site has posted photos of blisters on her hands caused by parsnip sap.
Parsnips are a lovely vegetable but do take care if cutting the stems or leaves, as the sap contains phototoxic psoralens (like Giant Hogweed).

Someone on my #allotment site has posted photos of blisters on her hands caused by parsnip sap.
Parsnips are a lovely vegetable but do take care if cutting the stems or leaves, as the sap contains phototoxic psoralens (like Giant Hogweed).
