I drove under the Paulinskill Viaduct to and from NE Penn and was telling my sister about the proposed line back to Scranton, but we might as well be dead by the time it reaches East Stroudsburg

Everyone knows it, but it’s still a classic. The first place I went to when I got my license, and now returned 20 years later. Good times.

My in laws live in rural NJ (it exists!) and just at the bottom of their valley is the Paulinskill Rail Trail, an old railroad right of way converted to an unpaved trail. It's great, and tons of people walk, bike, and ride horses on it. It's a real success even in a rural area.

The infrastructure assets are significantly degraded since they were last operational, particularly the Delaware River & Paulinskill viaducts. Those need engineering plans to stabilize. Plus how you build new track, signaling & stations in 2025 is much different from 1910.

I have a feeling its not going to happen. With the spending cuts I doubt Amtrak and PNRRA is going to foot the bill for all the track work and bridge work. Reminds me, I need to back into NJ and get some current footage of Paulinskill Viaduct. I have drone footage from 2019

Of all the abandoned places we've explored over the years, none match the awe-inspiring architectural majesty of the Paulinskill Viaduct, located near #Blairstown, NJ. More here: weirdnj.com/stories/paul...

“For at least two decades, there has been talk of reviving rail service along the Lackawanna Cutoff, which ran for 28 miles between Roxbury in Morris County and Slateford, Pennsylvania, and utilized the viaduct.

Went biking yesterday with son in back seat. Good condition, a little wet and bugs gnarly but overall a good choice. Lots of tree cover on the paulinskill rail trail. Did 12 miles.
