The name Luxfer comes from the latin words Lux (or light) and Ferre (meaning to carry), and the British Luxfer Prism Syndicate Limited still exists today as Luxcrete Limited.

This one was made by the British Luxfer Prism Syndicate Limited, which was established in 1898 under licence from the American company Luxfer, which at one point employed a young Frank Lloyd Wright to design its prisms.
