Also, Astarion, Thermodosa, and Melinoë are still trying to sleep on top of Fin and she is NOT happy about that. They obviously aren’t full-sized yet (they’ll get around 20-30lbs), but they’re big enough to be uncomfortable whilst on mom now.

I may not have given birth to her, but Fin is cut from the same Bitch cloth as I am and so are her babies and I love that we are a little Bitch Family.

We (me, Fin, and the peachicks) just had a trial and error on New Place To Sleep. Fin is getting increasingly tired of being a mother. 😂

Poppy is now just over three months old (just like the peachicks and Vessel), and she’s barely recognizable from the adult ducks now.

The peachicks are getting more adventurous as they fill out and look more like actual peafowl and not muppets with wings.

My city’s big urban park has a self sustaining peacock population. 🪶

I’ve been seeing the peachicks flaring their tails more lately. They definitely got Fin’s bitchiness. This is Melinoë trying to get sassy with Fin (it didn’t work).

Having a pet peahen is a very funny circumstance. Having pet peachicks is going to be adorable!

Anyhow. I was gonna go to sleep early since I have to do stuff early tomorrow, and I did not do that. Here’s a pic of Fin and her babies.

The peachicks are: Astarion (Porthos), Thermadosa (Aramis/Stumpy), and Melinoë (Athos).

I think it’s safe to call it at this stage. Their colouring/patterns are very distinct from each other now.

*Thermodosa - spellcheck is useless when I need it!

Here’s a better picture of them where you can see the difference better. Astarion by himself, Melinoë and Thermodosa together. Only 2 out 5 of this year’s babies being male isn’t bad for my flock. Usually the other way round.

Reblogging this entirely for one of the peachicks named Astarion. And how much it delights me to see the association of peafowl and Astarion out in the wild after these birds have become such a big influence on my Durge, haha 🦚✨

A (slightly) better look at the peachicks to give a better look at the difference between Astarion (first), Thermodosa (second), and Melinoë (third). If I could get them to stand next to each other, that’s also the order they go largest to smallest.

She looks at me sometimes, and I just tell her, “I told you not to do but you did it anyway”.

Like, don't start a conversation about peafowl with this man if you're not ready to get talked to death with an eerily happy little glimmer in his eyes.

Or watch him handle p̶e̶a̶c̶h̶i̶c̶k̶s̶ chickpeas like he was their mother hen

Also, Fin just full blown attacked my granny after I told her (Granny) not to wave the garbage bag at her (Fin) - she brings the neighborhood grass clippings over for the birds every week during the summer. Fin officially has it out for my granny now.

I think Fin has 2 daughters (Athos and Aramis/Stumpy) and 1 son (Porthos) based on size difference and the barring of the feathers. I guess I should decide on actual names for them now.

That would be a peahen... Peacocks are male, peahens are female, and baby peafowl are called peachicks! 😉
