#pellet-heater
Having a dog is like an eternal toddler that can only ever learn the word “want”

After an hour I finally figured out Watson wanted me to move his bed next to the heater.

I'm not sure this is going to pass muster for Greengage's adoption photo, but isn't she glorious?

Her fur has turned into maybe the softest thing I've ever felt. She is SO soft.

TWO GOOD THINGS today, which have both made me happy/sad/angry - because progress is fantastic but it also feels like we are retracing steps we'd already taken.

I have lights and power in my bathroom block! And we got a pellet heater installed for warmth!

Goodmorning, mommy turned on the pellet-heater for me ... and for her too

It's also quite close to the pellet heater, so they're cosy warm.

Right now everything feels very calm.

Happiness on a chilly fall day:
finding a sunbeam right in front of the heater

During a 5:30 am trip outside, a certain ambitious puppy decided the entire neighborhood should be warned that a suspicious individual* was putting pellets in the neighbor’s exterior pellet stove heater 🙄

Welp I finally caved an bought a space heater since the people I rent a room from only heat their house with a pellet stove and if I leave my door open their child will come into my room

It's been down in the 40s at night here and I have eyeballed that pellet stove but that's it, that's my heat for winter, so the cats are gonna be near on frozen before I cave on that

I have dragged one space heater out but only because one cat is 24 years old and not taking the chill well this year

You'll get a prison law video and a new podcast episode tomorrow, when the stores in the closest town open and I get a new keyboard. Sadly, the current one accidentally became a casualty during my water heater and pellet stove setup.

I don’t think so

Sleeping with the heater on. Grammy broke the Pellet Fire, so we have to wait until next Tuesday to get it fixed. Mummy told Grammy not to touch the fire place while she was out. Guess she should have listened to mummy

my wood pellet heater has turned itself off a few times in the past 3 days. on one hand, hooray an excuse to finally replace the aging central a/c with a heat pump and enjoy cheaper and smoother heat. on the other hand thats probably going to run $20,000 🥺

Averting disaster but also, unfortunately, evading the project we have to get done today. 😬

We're supposed to be pulling the old propane heater out of the tiny house so we can move the 200lb pellet stove in using a dolly I borrowed from work for the weekend because the installation is on Thursday.

Winter Solstice. We made it. We even have new babies because one of my hens is confused about what month it is.

Winter Solstice. We made it. We even have new babies because one of my hens is confused about what month it is.I hate this time of year. The dark drains my soul and energy. I can tolerate the cold (I mean, I also hate the cold, but I have fleece lined leggings and base layers and a warm pellet heater in the studio so...) but the dark is so depressing.I keep waking up and moving through my morning chores, wondering why I feel so emotionally crappy. And then I'm all ✨shocked Pikachu face✨ because yeah, Mum died, and grief is heavy and I feel like my bones are made of lead. It's the anniversary of Nan's death on Wednesday, and I'm just so annoyed. It's been 17 years and here we are. Back in the depths of June grief again. Mum didn't even outlive her own mother - Nan was 64. Mum was 60. My great grandmother Kath was 90. NINETY. I miss her too, but her life was so well lived and she was ready. We deserved 30 more years with each of them. It's been too many griefs for me in the last 20 months. Both of our mothers would be too much grief, without everything else. I keep running the tally through my head, Orwell, Spark, Maisy, Heidi, the entire fucking house and everything I owned, Peach, Wattle, Myrtle, Mum, Anne... over and over. Too many graves, too many ashes.

Scout's subtle suggestion that a wood or pellet stove might be a nice alternative to no heat.
February 16, 2025 at 10:14 PM
True. We have a few backup batteries for power outages that will run the blower on the pellet stove and keep the hot water heater on long enough to take a hot shower. Priorities

So, uh, we ran into some minor issues with out pellet heater, one thing led to another and...see the attached videos. What can I say, #Philips vacuums are the best. That shit still works. But yeah, no ep tonight bc of minor fire hazard problems. Vacuum saved our house, now is turbocharged.

Arrived safely in Portugal for the holidays. First task: fix the pellet heater (I’m not too happy we have one but it came with the house). After 2h of “debugging” it turned out the water pump was stuck and needed a little push. Now, it’s heating nicely. I love fixing physical things!

Lion would also hope that that pellet heater has an outside flue as well. Carbon monoxide poisoning is something one can do without. :)
