First Nations require annual funding from the government, plus a full release of all documents held by the government. There is no excuse for anything less than full support.

My thoughts today have been with the Penelakut Tribe, and Survivors of the Kuper Island Indian Residential School in BC, as the Nation released its interim report. Last week, the Penelakut tribe in British Columbia released new findings in the investigations at the former Kuper Island Indian Industrial School, located northwest of Victoria.

For those unfamiliar with the Kuper Island Residential School, it was one of BC's first schools, sometimes called "Alcatraz," as the institution was located on Penelakut Island.

So much sadness. So much trauma.

No real accountability from the Feds or Catholic Church, who ran this nightmare.
