Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Abenaki, Pennacook, and Wabanaki peoples, whose ancestral homeland N’dakinna includes all of New Hampshire. This land remains unceded. May we pair acknowledgment with action, respect, and partnership.

From the DELTA GREEN archives: "There are old stones on the top of it, though even the Indians don’t know where they came from. Huge standing stones cut from the Earth nearby and erected in a rough circle, like giant, rotten teeth. No one talks about who made them."

Something is wrong with Indian Hill, Vermont. It’s been wrong a long, long time. The Indians knew it. The Pennacook cursed the land and told people not to settle there, even after they were treated as...

The Pennacook once thrived as farmers, diplomats, and fierce defenders of their homeland. Sometimes called Pawtucket and Merrimack, their name comes from the Abenaki word “penakuk,” meaning “at the bottom of the hill.” More on The Pennacook Tribe:

the Pennacook confederation inhabited present-day New Hampshire and small parts of Maine and Massachusetts. since Greyshirt's Indigo City is located on a coast, I guess we can place it pretty definitively along that stretch of the Atlantic.

I was born on Pennacook land, which I genuinely call home. This land fills me with memories, bitter ,& sweet. Yet, none of these memories is shared with the Pennacook people. The settlers of this land, who made my life experience possible, had cleansed the Pennacook land of the Pennacook people.

Local NH emergency weather radio stations (WXJ40 in Pennacook, WNG575 Pack Monadnock and KZZ41 Mount Washington) are temporarily off the air. Make other arrangements for weather alerts, like checking weather.gov/gyx and your local radio and TV. #wxNH Only marine alerts on this Indian Summer day.

I named the whole area Wesgewina'q - A happy/joyful place. My ancestry is Mi'kmaq, and only recently learning about that. But I live in New Hampshire, Abenaki/Pennacook land and I have always been more connected here. So the project will include stuff from a lot of different cultures.

Honestly I thought the nations from my area had been fully subject to genocide, but this made me take a second look, and I realized I was wrong. The Pennacook-Abenaki people still exist to this day! I appreciate you comment because I think I'd have gone on with my misconception otherwise

Today is #IndigenousPeoplesDay. In #NH, we are on N'dakinna, the ancestral homeland of the Abenaki, Pennacook, and Wabanaki Peoples past and present. We acknowledge and honor with gratitude the land and waterways and the alnobak (people) who have stewarded N'dakinna throughout the generations.

Instead of celebrating this "day of thanks", let us look to those that were here first. I encourage you all to research and learn about which indigenous peoples lived on the land you now inhabit. On this day we honor first inhabitants of this land. For me it was the Pennacook and Nipmuc people.

Task Force agrees to highlight Pennacook presence on Native Presence panel after debate
After extended discussion over wording and sources, the Task Force agreed to restructure the Native Presence panel to open with explicit language that the Pennacook lived, hunted, fished, and farmed on the land and to keep the text within a roughly 200-word limit while citing sources and using QR codes for more detail.

There is a boat between cultures and their suppression, exchange and establishment.

Whether ‘mishoon’ or ‘clipper.’

Voice is one, text, picture, Bluesky another.

Idolatry of the model scuttles it…

there's legit "sustainable agriculture" supporting smaller fisheries and such, including MOFGA which has embraced the concept of organic weed, but that's largely white-settler-led, and the politics are incoherent. Locally, the Cowasuck Band of the Pennacook-Abenaki might have a better take on things
