For your nervous system nature bath: some gorgeous wild Humboldt lilies, manzanita bark and feverfew. I also saw fleabane, scarlet bugler penstamon, Russian sage, Spanish broom, wild sweet peas, vetch, desert woolystars, and a deer, turtle, and bobcat. 🌱

Planted out the grown up cuttings of penstamon in bed …ready to bloom. In memory of Geoff Hamilton, Gardeners World.
I’ve touched his compost bins at @barnsdalegardens.bsky.social many moons ago.
He taught us so much. 🌱

Of course, they are all my faves, but Penstemon is my fave among faves. DYK they will flourish above 10K feet?

I took this pic near the summit of Mt. Lassen in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Imagine how short the growing season is and yet how important it is to the hummingbirds.

This type of thing can have devastating effects if the plant

highly versatile but some are pickier about where they grow.

Be aware too of cultivars of native plants. That was a mistake I made when I first started getting interested in native plants. I purchased several cultivars of things like aster and penstamon but cultivars are bred to be more pleasing

🌱Right?! Ours insists on being out bc squirrels and chipmunks and bees need chasing. Have to set a timer and insist she comes in. Takes her #GardenDogs job seriously.
